I hope you understand what is investment and promotion from a talent and a contest.

Gone to Boracay?...beauty is no way to promote through a contest, but the tourists is cravin to see the beauty of the area.

You are referring to International Pageant anyway thats a different story in local tourism. Small-time pageant e.g. Magpet, the organizers, the judges etc.. usually coined the event to celebrate a remarkable moment of the place. Still it create lesser impact to boost the industry. I am more comfortable to regard it as ENTERTAINMENT and not entirely the vehicle to fuel tourism. I remember a school-based beauty contest in Kidapawan City, more or less four beauty contest will happen every school year, but none of it used as gauging point to increase school's enrollment, the situation is akin to local version of beauty pageant. There are lots of cards to lay down in intensifying our local tourism, I gave 2% for a beauty pageant.

For as long our olds, the prime movers sets as an example, this land will stumble in the same stone. As regard to the incident in Magpet, I understand your sentiment. I for one, will draw the same reaction. But these are all man-made creation, the subjectivity, the ill-judgement were all product of loopholed policies in the event and yet we allowed ourselves to be preyed. Why join a system when you knew early on that its a rotten system? There are hundred ways to kill a cat and killing the mother cat is the easyist way. The youths will learn today and tomorrow they will understood - but as to the degree and level of understanding? That is still a big-big question.
